GEO Presence methodology
This page documents the measurement behind every GEO Presence result: a fixed panel of sixteen queries across four AI engines, three calls per query-engine pair, and a majority threshold before an answer counts as a citation. It states the definitions, the limits of the sample, and who produced the method.
- Engagement period
- Q2 2026
- Measurement panel
- 16 queries × 4 generative AI engines
- Calls per pair
- 3 calls per query-engine pair
- Majority threshold
- A response counts when at least two of the three calls name the company.
What does the measurement cover?
The panel locks a fixed set of sixteen queries and four generative AI engines for the whole engagement. Each query is run against each engine three times, with web search enabled. The same panel is used before and after the work, so two reports describe the same surface rather than two different samples.
How is an answer counted?
An answer is compliant only when at least two of the three calls for a query-engine pair name the company. The rule is a majority threshold, not an average: one mention out of three does not clear the bar. The presence score is the share of compliant answers across the panel.
What counts as a citation?
An answer citation is a compliant response that names the company. A URL citation is a compliant response that also links to one of the company's pages. The presence score counts answer citations; URL citations and rank positions are reported separately, so a mention is never confused with a link.
What are the limits of the method?
A fixed panel of sixteen queries on four engines is a sample, not a census. It cannot predict rankings, AI citations, recommendations, new clients or revenue for another company. The panel is locked between measurements so reports remain comparable; changing it would make two reports incomparable. The figures describe one anonymized engagement in the Quebec legal sector during Q2 2026, not a guarantee for any particular company.
Who produced this method?
Guillaume Bleau, CEO of UPentreprise, is the methodologist for the engagement documented on this page. He defined the query panel, the engine panel, the three-call rule and the majority threshold used to decide whether an answer counts.
